TOP 3 IoT Project using custom made PCBs from PCBWay

With the advent of new technology, more IoT based startups and devices are emerging day by day. There are many Internet of Things based devices available in the market that are used to control, monitor, regulate household devices or physical parameters without the aid of humans. But what is the use of any IoT project if it is not compact, reliable, and well designed? Well, the solution is to use a PCB board instead of a breadboard and wires. And PCBWay is the perfect platform to design your custom-made PCB at an economical price.
To understand the concept of IoT more precisely, here we have selected the best three IoT projects using custom made PCBs. Without wasting any time, let’s have a look at them.

IoT based Home Automation project using custom made PCB

In this simple IoT project, we can control any appliance of our home using our smartphone. It uses a WEMOS D1 mini and a 4 CH relay module to regulate the household appliances. The custom made PCB, ordered from the PCBWay contains four tact switches along with other components enclosed in a 3D printed case. An LED is attached to show the ON/OFF indication of the corresponding switch. The Blynk app installed in our smartphone can control the fan, light, or other electrical appliance remotely. This application of IoT saves energy by regularly monitoring and controlling unnecessary household appliances left ON when not in use.

  • TACT SWITCH 12mm
  • LED 3mm
  • 1×8 Male pin header
  • MODULE RELAY 4CH 76mmx56mm
  • 3D printed case for the relay module

The PCB has been using Eagle software and it contains the slots for placing tact switches, a relay, and WEMOS D1 mini.

Theia contactless Thermometer using Custom made PCB

This IoT project monitors the temperature of a patient and collects it in a database known as Theia hub. Individual temperature readings from a particular community are grouped to calculate an average. This average value is saved as the ‘Community Temperature’ mean value. If the ‘Community Temperature’ trends above a safe limit, it automatically alerts the national health system to take necessary actions.

This simple project can be significant in detecting the outbreak of an infectious disease such as COVID 19, as the mean average temperature of a community will suddenly increase. Taking suitable actions will stop the problem at the micro-level. Each hub can monitor an area of 2 km and uses IoT framework LoRA radio chip. All the components are put together over a custom-made PCB, ordered from PCBWay.

Voice Notification Warning System using Custom made PCB

This IoT project detects the movement of any object using either an IR sensor (Infrared sensor) or a PIR sensor (Passive Infrared Sensor). Powered by an Atmega328P microcontroller, this project provides us a viable solution to alert us from any intruders. When any object comes within the range of the sensor, it responds to the movement by playing a predefined voice using the DFPlayer mini MP3 module. The entire circuit is put together on a custom made PCB, ordered from PCBWay. The main advantage of using this circuit is that the power consumption is minimal. A 9V battery is enough to power the complete circuit, with an ample amount of running time.
